During the heatwave of July ’22, my husband and I joined Brent for his Cocoa & Grapes tour around Carcassonne. Not only did we get to taste some of what the areas has to offer in terms of incredible wine and outstanding chocolate, but we finished the tour having learned so much about the wine industry/production and the history of the area too. We found ourselves referring back to “remember Brent told us that…” throughout the rest of our stay in France, linking it to what else we saw and experienced! Brent was very informative but in a conversational way and we easily found ourselves in extended discussions with him and sharing a few laughs along the way. He was a considerate tour guide when it came to coping with the heat but he also gave us an understanding of Carcassonne as a community. This was out first day of our holiday, and the tour really helped us get our bearings of the town both geographically and culturally. We made some purchases of wine and chocolate during the tour but there was no pressure to do so. Brent added a few extra treats along the way which we were so appreciative of too. If you are pondering doing this tour, I would highly recommend that you book, you won’t be disappointed.

When I went into a wine shop or even a grocery, I understood the wine labels and different French standards so that I could make a better decision. There were just four of us on the tour, which meant that our time was relaxed and conversational. We live in Carcassonne, and even so, Brent's historical anecdotes were fun and engaging. For us, the highlights were the visits to the small, locally owned chocolate and wine shops. The owner of one chocolate shop had until recently been producing and selling his delicious and original chocolates from his house. What a pleasure to meet and talk with a passionate chocolate entrepreneur. Similar story at the tiny wine shop where we had a dégustation (wine tasting) of several good wines from domaines close to Carcassonne. The shop owner had spent years visiting the very many small wineries in the region in search for great little-known wines. We had a very good time over the course of about 4 hours.

(Avis d'origine) My wife and I arrived in Carcassonne on the Wednesday evening and had booked to go on the tour on Thursday morning. This was a great choice as the tour enabled you to see a lot of the hidden areas of the town. The chocolate tasting was great with some new flavours that were delicious. Trying the different wines of the region was good and definitely got us in the holiday spirit :). It was also great to meet the different people that put a lot of effort into the crafts they have developed. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it.
